Import people without losing context

Review CSV or Excel rows, approve updates, and inspect the saved result.

Follow the steps

01

Prepare the file

Use a CSV or .xlsx file with one person per row and clear headers, up to 1,000 rows or 5 MB. Remove data you are not authorized to import.

02

Open the People Import Center

In People, choose Import contacts. For companies, use the separate importer on Companies. Check the active workspace and its contact allowance.

03

Review each outcome

Inspect new people, exact-email matches, ambiguous rows, and field-by-field proposed updates. Approve only changes you want; blank cells do not erase saved details.

04

Confirm and inspect history

Run the reviewed import, download its row-level result, and spot-check the affected people. The batch history records who ran it, when, and any row errors.

BEFORE YOU MOVE ON

Check the result

The batch result agrees with the People records in the intended workspace.

Worth knowing

Import does not change ownership or marketing consent. Resolve ambiguous matches manually and keep the source file until totals reconcile.
